Al-Hajj Mobarak Hossain Ratna was born on 20th January 1957, at Pabna in a noble muslim family. His father's name is late Mokarram Hossain who was well known to all by his own virtue and variety of social welfare activities. Like his father Mr. Mobarak Hossain was also famous of his time who successfully took imitative to establish so many industries like Universal group of industries Ltd. which includes Universal Food Ltd. Universal Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Universal Unani etc. He was educated from Pabna Zila School and Pabna Edward College. In the year 1972 he passed the S.S.C Examination. Besides all of his brilliant career he was also a promising sports organizer and successful sports man who achieved membership of the National Shooting Federation. In the shooting range he was un-parallel, especially in Clay Pigeon Shooting. In 1991 he achieved Gold medal in the National Shooting Competition & in 1993 he owned the glory of getting the International partnership Gold medal award for the same. He represented Bangladesh in the World Cup Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition in Australia. He was also a good Tennis Player of his time and got several prizes. Besides his student career he also started business and took initrative in different fields, like Cinema Hall & Industrial Productions. He was the owner of so many Cinema Hall like ‘Rupkatha' and 'Ananta’ at the same time he established ‘Universal group of industries (including food, pharma & unani) Ltd.’ and in this connection he visited several countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, India and China. He introduced about one hundred items in his production list which is now already in the market.

Mr. Ratna was also kind enough to the poor people & best server to the society. He helped in establishing so many Schools, Madrasas, Mosques & Mondirs in different places in the district. Poor and meritorious students got financial support from him and usually he did it as it was his regular duty to the society, so that the boys can establish themselves in their future life. He was elected as the secretary, Rifle Club, Pabna for two terms and also elected as the President of the Rotary Club of Pabna. during the session 2001-2002. With his own virtue and activities he also proved himself to be the life blood- of the Rifles Club, Pabna. In his Family life he was a father of five daughters. Instead of all these criteria he was not at all interested to be focused in the media. On 19th March 2007 he died of cancer in Singapore when he was 50.
